Where the VIN number of the vehicle is located
The VIN code is a 17-digit unique number that is assigned to the car when it leaves the factory. It must be fully legible and match the documentation and the car. The VIN can be found in the following places:
- Windscreen (driver's side): located near the pillar and readable from the outside.
- Driver's door opening: the plate is attached to the bodywork near the lock.
- Engine compartment: may be embossed on the shock absorber cup, front panel or engine block head.
- Interior under the carpet: under the driver's or passenger seat.
- Bonnet lid or roof pillar: depending on the make.
Checking a car by VIN is impossible if the code is damaged or missing. This may indicate tampering, a criminal record or a body swap.

Decoding VIN history of a car
The structure of the VIN code is strictly regulated by international standards. Each symbol has a meaning:
WMI (1-3 symbols) - world code of the manufacturer. For example, TMB - Skoda (Czech Republic), WVW - Volkswagen.
VDS (4-9 character) - data on model, body type, engine displacement, drive, transmission.
Check digit (9 position) - used to check the validity of the VIN.
VIS (10-17 symbols) - year of manufacture, manufacturing plant, serial number on the assembly line.
Decoding allows not only to clarify the year of manufacture, but also to identify the authenticity of the car, to compare the equipment. This is especially important for premium versions, where the presence of leather interior, options package or assistants affects the market price. Thus, when buying a Seat in the Czech Republic, VIN decoder helps to accurately determine its origin and compliance with factory specifications.

Cars from the Czech Republic are in high demand among buyers interested in used vehicles with a transparent history and good technical condition. The country is a member of the EU, which means that the control over technical inspections is strict, vehicle registration is systematized, and service history is available for analysis.
Buying a car in the Czech Republic is beneficial for several reasons. Firstly, here often operate models of European production - Skoda, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Renault - with a full service history. Secondly, the cost of cars on the Czech market is lower than in Germany or the Netherlands.
However, along with this, there are risks. It is not uncommon when the declared information about car maintenance does not correspond to the actual one. Sometimes sellers hide participation of the car in accidents and equipment replacement. To exclude possible problems, it is necessary to check the car by VIN-code before buying. This procedure allows you to determine the configuration and make sure that the information is authentic.
