Advantages of a Lincoln inspection
Why to check the Lincoln VIN number with the decoder
A Lincoln VIN check allows you to:
- obtain accurate technical specifications, including engine size, transmission type, and all-wheel drive system;
- confirm factory-installed equipment, including options, multimedia equipment, driver assistance systems, and safety features;
- determine the vehicle's service history based on recorded visits to dealership service centers;
- verify whether the declared model corresponds to the actual model produced;
- identify potential signs of replacement of units or body parts that do not correspond to the factory assembly.

Where the Lincoln VIN number is located
Lincoln places the VIN code in several locations on the vehicle body:
- under the windshield on the driver's side, closer to the body pillar;
- on the driver's door frame or on the pillar next to the lock;
- on the engine – engraving is done in hard-to-reach places;
- on the hood or under its trim – in some models;
- in service documentation and registration certificates.
For the most accurate determination of the VIN location, you can contact an official dealer or the previous owner of the car. It is important to check the number on the body and in the documents. If at least one character differs, this is a reason to refuse the transaction.
Lincoln VIN decoding
The Lincoln VIN code is decoded using special algorithms. Each character corresponds to a specific parameter:
- Characters 1–3 (WMI) – global manufacturer identifier. For Lincoln, this indicates American assembly.
- Characters 4–8 – technical data: body type, series, engine type, and safety system.
- 9th character – check digit. Used to verify the authenticity of the VIN.
- 10th character – model year of manufacture. Allows you to determine the year the car was assembled.
- 11th character – manufacturer code.
- Characters 12–17 – vehicle serial number.
Checking the VIN is a mandatory step when choosing any used car, as is checking the Opel configuration by VIN if you are considering models from the German brand. Checking a car by its VIN code from Europe is not a whim, but the basis for a safe transaction.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Lincoln cars are classics of American engineering, combining unmatched comfort and solid equipment. The cars are distinguished by attention to detail, smooth ride, and premium options even in the basic versions. However, buying a Lincoln without first checking the VIN code is a serious risk. This is especially true for used cars imported from Europe or the US. Without analyzing the vehicle's history, technical parameters, and features, there is a high chance of encountering costly repairs or registration issues.
