Why to check the VIN number of the car with the decoder
Every vehicle receives an inpidual identification number - VIN - during production. This 17-digit code contains encrypted information about the vehicle. Checking a car by VIN allows you to:
- Service history of the car. It shows how responsibly the previous owners took care of the car: whether the car was serviced in a timely manner, whether faults were eliminated, whether original spare parts were used. This information allows you to avoid buying a problematic car and count on its reliable operation in the future.
- Compare the real characteristics with the declared characteristics. With the help of VIN decoder you can check the parameters of engine, transmission, volume and fuel type, which helps to avoid deception. Sometimes sellers specify a more ‘attractive’ configuration than it really is.
- Identify interventions in the design. The history of the car by VIN-code often reveals traces of changes in the configuration or installed equipment. The seller often hides these data.
Bidcar.eu service allows you to check your car by VIN code for free - the report is generated in 1 minute. Such a check is especially important when buying a car from abroad. When importing from EU countries, including Poland, there is a high risk of falsification of the actual mileage and errors in equipment. Checking by VIN code allows you to avoid these problems and guarantee a transparent transaction.

Where the VIN number of the vehicle is located
The location of the VIN depends on the make, model and year of manufacture. Most often the number can be found:
- Under the windshield. In the lower left corner if viewed from the outside, or in the upper left corner - from inside the cabin. Visible through the glass, protected from mechanical damage.
- On the driver's door pillar. Next to the lock or on the end of the door, near the nameplate.
- On the engine. On the engine block or applied to the riveted nameplate.
- On or under the hood. The code may be located on the top or inside of the hood.
- In the trunk and under the floor mats. You can find the code under the trim in the passenger's right footwell or in the luggage compartment.

Decoding VIN history of a car
The VIN consists of 17 characters, each of which has its own meaning:
1-3 characters (WMI - World Manufacturer Identifier): country and manufacturer. For example, the code “VF1” indicates a Renault manufactured in France.
4-9 characters (VDS - Vehicle Descriptor Section): technical specifications. It specifies the model, body type, safety system, engine.
9 symbol - check digit: used to verify the authenticity of the VIN code.
10 symbol: the year of manufacture of the car. For example, the letter “M” corresponds to the year 2021.
11 symbol: assembly plant.
12-17 characters: serial number, unique for each vehicle.

One of the reliable ways to be sure of the technical history and legal cleanliness of the vehicle is to check the car by VIN-code. The report allows you to get accurate information about the equipment, service history, and be confident in your decision.
